Joe Nowak
Joe has been teaching people how to use computers since 1981. During this time, he has taught in the corporate environment, college (Columbia College Chicago-1985-2009), and adult/continuing education at (Lyons Township Adult and Continuing Education -1985--). He has also given numerous workshops and presentations in his capacity as a member of the Chicago Computer Society (CCS). Joe was the coordinator of the Word Processing Special Interest Group for five years and coordinator of the Internet Special Interest Group for two years. As a member of the CCS, he has written articles for Hard Copy the Journal of the CCS. An article in the Wall Street Journal prompted him to write a letter to the editor, which was published. He has been interviewed on radio and television.
Tai chi chuan and qigong are another area of interest for Joe. He has been a student of these martial arts since 2000 and has actively been teaching since 2006. His interests also include health and fitness, all topics he hopes to cover for Suite101.com.
Joe was never a big fan of the standard presentations in history classes, but instead preferred those little side bar stories concerning a single event or an individual’s unique contribution to the larger picture. He has written history articles for Sea History, Cobblestone Magazine and contributed information for other articles. He is also a big fan of historical trivia and will be sharing these stories with his readers.
